The ESEE Imlay Knife was developed by the ESEE team during their search and rescue, swiftwater, and recreational rope activities. Featuring a dull, blunted tip for safer use around tensioned ropes or rescue subjects, the knife boasts serrations to cut through tough materials. The double spine jimping provides a more secure grip, while the skeletonized design helps reduce the size and weight of the knife. Crafted from 440C stainless steel, the Imlay is well-suited for use in wet environments and offers excellent edge-holding capabilities.
The sheathing system designed by ESEE includes a secondary retention strap and multiple carry options. The knife can be clipped onto your gear rack using a small accessory carabiner, laced onto a personal flotation device (PFD), or simply attached with an Izula Clip Plate. To deploy the knife, simply remove the secondary retention strap from the sheath post, then thumb the blade out of the sheath as you would with any other ESEE knife. The retention strap is designed to remain on the knife during use and features a long tail for easier manipulation with gloved hands. The complete Imlay system includes the knife, sheath, clip plate, secondary retention device, and paracord.
ESEE's commitment to supporting the search and rescue community is evident, as 10% of the gross sales for the Imlay Rescue knife go towards the operational costs of RAT-SAR, a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer search and rescue organization.
The ESEE brand has its roots in the company Randall's Adventure & Training, founded in 1997 by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin. After years of operating under contract with the Peruvian Air Force's School of Jungle Survival in South America, the team relocated their training efforts stateside and launched ESEE Knives, a sister company focused on producing high-quality field-grade knives and gear.
One of ESEE's popular models is the ESEE Izula, which features an overall length of 6.25 inches and a blade length of 2.63 inches. This knife comes with a molded polymer sheath and clip plate, allowing for versatile carry options.
Customers can explore the full range of ESEE knives and gear by visiting the brand's online store, where they can discover the Imlay Rescue Knife and other cutting-edge products designed for outdoor enthusiasts, search and rescue professionals, and those who demand the highest quality tools for their adventures.
