From the brand ESEE, the Izula knife was designed to be the perfect lightweight survival kit or concealed carry knife. Launched in 1997, Randall's Adventure & Training was founded by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer market. After operating in South America under contract with the Peruvian Air Force's School of Jungle Survival for several years, they relocated their training stateside and launched a sister company to produce high-quality field-grade knives and gear – ESEE Knives.

The Izula knife is named after the locals in Peru who call the meanest, nastiest ant of the jungle the "Isula", known as the Bullet Ant. The Izula knife is designed to be tough, light on its feet, and a real aggressive survivor, just like the Bullet Ant. Included with the Izula knife is a durable black injection-molded carry sheath.

ESEE carbon steel knives are made from 1095 steel, which is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use. However, 1095 steel will rust and stain if not properly cared for, especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. ESEE recommends using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH.
