ESEE 5 1095 Carbon Steel Survival Knife (Desert Tan Blade, Blood/Black G10 3D Handle)

The ESEE-5 was designed by military SERE instructors as a hard-use downed pilot's survival knife. Except for knife-only models, the ESEE-5 comes standard with a Kydex sheath. Beginning in 1997, Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin launched Randall's Adventure & Training to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer market. After several years under contract with the Peruvian Air Force's School of Jungle Survival operating in South America, they relocated their training stateside and launched a sister company to produce high-quality field-grade knives and gear – ESEE Knives.

The ESEE-5 features an overall length of 11 inches, an overall blade length of 5.25 inches, and a blade thickness of 0.25 inches. It has a saber grind, a drop-point blade, and a textured powder coat finish. The knife is equipped with a glass breaker pommel. The blade is made of 1095 carbon steel with a Rockwell hardness of 55-57 RC. The weight of the knife alone is 17 ounces, and the weight with the sheath is 22 ounces.

ESEE carbon steel knives are made from 1095 steel, which is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use. However, 1095 steel will rust and stain if not properly cared for, especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blade properly lubricated and cleaned.
